Overall love the extension but my only complaint is that it isn't customisable. This isn't a huge problem for me personally though so I would recommend this as it works the same as a normal browser with added benefits like grading websites on their environmental impact and sustainability. Love this extension personally

I love ecosia, but I don't want its extension to change my new tab page. The only way to prevent it, is to disable the whole extension.

Counter for tree planted was reset a while ago, and recently stopped at 10 for a prolonged period even though I used it every day.

We are not allowed to change our default search engine after installing it?

Maybe let's let people chose their own background. I love Ecosia just in the future let us make our own background. I don;t care about light or dark I just want my own tab background back. You do that and I'll come running back + many people!

Great extension, they should add a option to disable ecosia new tab though because I use another extension to customize my new tab page and i prefer that over ecosia + ecosia doesn't have dark mode

I've been using Ecosia for 4 years and combining it with the Tabs for Trees extension. Easy to use and the search results are getting better through time. I especially love that the company is so transparent with their finances on their website.

After the incident of eco scientists demonstration, many people spread awareness and use eco-friendly products. This search engine is also included in the eco-friendly list. Well done Ecosia! You also share your profit to the world's ecosystem. Even though the search is not powerful as Google, I hope our searches will help to train Ecosia's algorithm and become powerful + plant the trees! :D One thing for sure it need an option to change "Dark" mode. It helps out in reading text easier and also reduce display power of device. Please add this option. Thank you.

I accidentally remove the access of the person in charge on this website. Now, it appears that my access has been denied and I can'y use ecosia. I don't know how to fix it. I hope ecosia will address this kind of problem as soon as possible.

nothing wrong with it, only that it lacks a dark mode.

I liked the objective/aim for the application of this service. However, the only thing that I badly wanted to suggest is about the shortcuts. I would like Ecosia to have the same function of shortcuts just like in Google Chrome. Where users can add and remove, and display all the shortcuts (links) they all want and need to. For me as a student, I think that would very very useful. But overall, of course I loved it.

This is a great way to save our Mother Earth! I would like to add a suggestion, like adding a background picture or a dark option view when opening a tab, because a white screen is kinda blinding to the eyes. Thank you! <3

Question: Where can you find dark mode?

The concept is wonderful but I don't know if there is enough thought into it being functional. For one I don't know why there isn't a dark mode, like it's 2022, get with the program. And while you're at it you should just add all color options, idk who your coders are but they kinda need some more practice anyways. But seriously the white hurts my eyes and sometimes I do use google to avoid the brightness of Ecosia so I do think this matter is very important. Another thing I wouldn't mind is a feature like Google has; when you google a question a few sentences with a presumable answer will come up, idk if yall can just copy them but something like that would be helpful in finding answers quicker. As someone who looks things up a LOT, the little list of FAQ with possible answers on Google is also so incredibly helpful. But over all the information on Ecosia is great and the style. Those are just the few things I wanted to suggest so I can transition to Ecosia easier.

This is a great search engine and please stick around for a quick three reasons why. 1. They are saving the environment This is a great a reason and why I decided to get this extension 2. I know that sometimes the search results may be messy, but if this happens then just add "#g" to your question or whatever or you're looking up and get google results and still help plant trees 3. It's free and up lifting. If you ever feel like you're not doing enough for the environment and you are too overwhelmed at the moment to do anything else, remember you're helping plant trees around the world with your search engine. I love how it plants trees and all but google is more than a search engine. google has translate and caculater. Also when on google and you search up something like What is a superb lyrebirds habitat it will immietetly show you a small response that you don't need to search for a good site for, also if you ask for the meaning of a word google will show you google translate along with the meaning. Ecosia could work on better search results and more advanced results. What I love about Ecosia and what made me actually not skip the add and click "get Ecosia" was the fact that it plant trees.

Takes a little more work than Google. But not so much that it's that much of a hassle. Usually I can find what I'm looking for 99% of the time just as fast. The other 1% is a bit more nuanced and needs data information that Google collects to get me to where I want to be but it's a small trade off for the privacy and trees it gives. It works great for computer, not so great for smartphones but it's such a small difference that you only know if you've only ever used the computer version.

very nice and fast to search

I initially had this installed as a friend from school told me about this, but as I grew older, I'm more dubious about this search engine and the extension itself. For one, it seems as though Ecosia touts itself as a charity organisation that helps to plant trees, but one issue I see is that all these trees are being "planted" but where, and how is the better question. With so many trees being planted, you'd think by now that Ecosia would be well reputable, but you have to be told they exist before you are aware of it. Strikes me odd because that's a lot of trees that I'm sure TeamTrees would be jealous. The next question is where they get the money to buy and then plant a tree for each search result. It might seem obvious to say it's the ads, but it is worth noting that Ecosia's search engine is not unique; it runs on the Bing search engine. That means they have to be getting money elsewhere to not only buy trees, but keep their company afloat. This leads onto the dubious and vague nature of privacy. Though they say they will not distribute it, words mean nothing when presented with the prospect of money. In this day and age, "selling data" is a given and not an exception, and there's never really a website that won't store or distribute data. Many free services stay afloat because of analytics; it's a fancy term for "we talked with our stakeholders and gave them your info". Lastly, I should warn that this extension has been marked by several antivirus services as a Potentially Unwanted Program, meaning that this extension might not be safe. Just like how The Great Suspender was safe until it was found out that it was malicious, Ecosia Search Engine extension may as well be another case of malware disguised as an extension. No other extension I have installed ever been flagged, so it seems quite suspicious that this is a PUP. Long short: this extension is marketing material to get you to use a suspicious search engine.

I really like the idea of this and I appreciate the transparency. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with its own dark mode and I have to download one separately.

I use Ecosia together with OpenTabs to double my environmentally-friendly impact! As a college student, I love Ecosia. It's practical and easy to use, and I love the format and design. I recommend Ecosia to everyone I meet!

I'd love this a lot more if the landing page didn't have a constantly moving number driving me INSANE. Some of us can't stand modern motion garbage. Please fix it. I'd love to love your service and help plant lots of trees. UPDATE: This addon replaced my Homepage and New Tab with Ecosia's stupid tree-counter graphic that drives me insane. And every attempt I've made to disable it leaves me with Chrome's default New Tab view. So, I officially hate this addon. THANKS FOR RUINING CHROME!

Super quick, and modern design that reminds me of Scholar Google. It also plant's a tree for every 45th search, meaning Ecosia is super eco-friendly and has dedicated goals for changing climate change!

Good concept, but the engine is still inferior to google. The autofill system doesn't work well and the results only consists of links, while google shows preview of pages sometimes.

Really good, 10/10 would recommend. I do however have one complaint but it won't change my overall review. When you go to search something up and click on images, everything is fine. However when you click on certain images it won't load them. Its rather annoying at best but an issue none the less.

I installed for the sole purpose of saying this: Don't show me annoying banners at the bottom of the screen asking me to install this extension when I have already set it as my default search engine within chrome.

I love the idea and the impact that it's having. Having done lots of learning about Africa in school and it's deforestation it's good to know there's something reliable out there combating that. The only thing I would add is a way to add a background. The standard white gets boring. Very reliable. I had no issues with less speed or results. It also feels really safe. I've used it for over 6 months and I haven't had any inappropriate adds or adds that relate to previous searches. I think that means they pay attention and aren't trying to get anything extra out of my information. Great, reliable add on that helps the environment while they're at it. Great going Ecosia.

I'm so happy We are growing more trees! There is nothing wrong with the search engine it always takes me where I need to go. It is absolutely spectacular, I'm trying to get my family members to use it.. Sadly they think it's a virus. I tried showing them the blog but they didn't believe it because it didn't give much detail. Can you guys update the blog? Other than that it's amazing no downfalls or anything. I certainly recommend ecosia for a search engine!

For a save-the-planet geeks like me, this is one of the best chrome extensions. I can take care of my daily inquiries and still make something happen to the world. While in real terms, I'm being a couch potato, I'm also supporting natural communities all around the world. It makes life feel a little better. There are no side-effects or anything different from Google other than that it plants trees.

Literally amazing extension. It's a very fast and reliable search engine, yet over a hundred million trees have been planted because of it.

I'm a little miffed that all my shortcut buttons that were on my home page have disappeared and there is no clear way to add any on the Ecosia home page. Let me rephrase that, there are three buttons that have been placed but none of which I use frequently and they can't be edited. Like I said... miffed...

You should use this...REGARDLESS OF Political affiliation!! Who doesn't want a better, greener tomorrow?

Love that Ecosia allows my daily internet usage to contribute to helping the environment. However, I really hope they work to improve the quality of their search results soon. I struggle to find any image/gif/video that I need, and more importantly whenever I search a hot button issue (e.g. "wind farm"), Ecosia returns pages and pages of conspiracy theories and low-information fake news websites. Dear Ecosia, please do something about this!
