It's okay overall, but I really wish there were more fonts option available, there are only two options, which is too limited.

An excellent reader view extension that also provides text-to-speech capability, text editing, screenshots, as well as the ability to save "reader view" articles in html file format, among other features.

I really like this extension... just a minor bug: the keyboard shortcut for toggling the reader view on/off does not work on Vivaldi browser.

Was better awhile back. Voice reading has all but stopped working. Should be removed entirely if developer can't get it to work. Not the developer's fault entirely because the voices were mostly from Google and as such are not reliable because of Google's licensing nonsense. Otherwise a very useful tool for those of us who need to read online without constant visual clutter.

I love it!!!

When I started using reader view addon few years ago, it was less buggy and worked flawlessly but now it is buggy and not working as it was intended. The reader view of the page is broken, takes only 50 percent of the text and rest is missing. In TTS mode, it doesn't read the title or bullet points or wherever points exists (for example take any page from site https://www.healthline.com/). Also when using TTS, the popup of the voice, speed and lang. doesn't open up or minimize properly. The lack of fonts out of the box from settings is disappointing. If dev is really updating this addon constantly, please check the problems both for chrome and firefox users. Usable but very problematic.

Has changed the way I read articles on the internet

Simply the best out there. Just perfect. The best interface. The read aloud function is far the best of all the other readers. Easy to use. I tried many, this one won by a long shot.

SO the reader view itself is good but the tts is not functioning and time i go to a voice the reader view does not play the voice at all this hapeens alot and last for a long time i hope they can fix this problem.

Apart from seldom crashes that some users claim do happen, this is as good as an extension gets. I was only looking for a darkmode extension and came thus far. I must say this has pretty much everything i could ask for.

It's great when it works, but it keeps crashing within my chosen Brave browser. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Time to try something else.

Review for support. Tried several extentions. One was paid (funny how you could choose dark background for free, but should pay to see white text on it), another one didn't scale text correctly. This one doesn't have any issues for me, and is free.

This Extension is a Must Have

Fantastic and the best extension for this use! Don't make the mistake I did and accidently installed the copycat extension also called "Reader View". It looks like this one but has much fewer features and not done as well. Their icon looks like a book that is opened to the middle. Do not install that one! Get this one! I love this one and use it multiple times a day!

Reader View is one of those add-ons that is a must if you are into reading webpages, articles, blogs, and lengthy pages that have weird ads and pics all over. I use it in chrome, brave, opera, and Vivaldi, and hope there is some firefox addon for firefox users. I don't use this in the edge because the edge has an excellent immersive reader with text-to-speech that should be a learning point for the reader to view addon dev. The biggest demerit of using this addon is that there are only two fonts and both of which are below average for readers like me. The second demerit is that when I enable text to speak, I can't choose voice, volume increase, or from where the reading should begin. Consider adding a save webpage as it is for offline reading. I am also using this addon on mobile on the kiwi browser but it doesn't work properly there. I hope the dev is reading this and will improve it. Thanks.

I installed this in the Kiwi browser on Android. This far exceeds the Simplified Page feature built into Chrome.

Very nice! Has a lot of features that I never even thought of, but are very useful.

It dont save like markdown visuals in pages. Like if you use the "" quotes"" at quora.com It dont show that element lines besides the quoted text. I want to save the exact reader page, but when you press Save as, it only saves the website pdf page and all its messy elements. so .

I'm a journalist, and this extension has been invaluable. It declutters web pages and - most importantly for me - lets me make highlights in articles. If reader view is closed and reopened the highlights remain, which is even better. This thing has saved me so much time and made staying organized so much easier - kudos and praise couldn't be higher!

Brilliant

This is a GREAT reader viewer with extensive capabilities! The option that impresses me right off is that you can edit the view! Excellent! I like the view layout better than anything I get with other viewers. I also keep a Reader Viewer that has an option to open automatically.. that one is my default. I also notice that this extension doesn't "play nice" with my word filter and copier extension the way the other Reader Viewer does, but I am still VERY fond.

Best reader app I tested so far.

Amazing! As a student when I'm reading articles and studying from websites, I hate the random clutter on the sides of the page. Reader View removes all the clutter and only keeps whats important. Changing the page colour and the ability to change the font size also adds a nice touch and making reading much easier on my eyes. Overall, highly recommend especially if your doing a lot of researching and reading online.

I don't why I initially overlooked this and left it languoring in the inactives. BIG MISTAKE... It has everything needed to filter all the distractions so carelessly included in nearly every webpage

It's a good app but whenever I use the IBM Watson voices on the "North America" section on wikivoyage.org the voices stop reading after a bit.

Simple, easy to use and customizable.

Reader View is an excellent reader. What's even more important than the details of whether it's a little better or a little worse than other readers is the privacy policy. "Does not collect user data". This is the kind of reader any user who cares about his or her privacy should be using. This compares to others like Clearly, whose privacy policy reads as follows: "clearlyreader.com built the clearlyreader.com service (including all apps we provided) as a Commercial service.The app does use third party services that may collect information used to identify you....third party service providers used by the app: Google Play Services, Firebase Analytics, Fabric, Crashlytics, Intercom, Sentry, Log Data."

I really like this extension. It really helps to simplify webpages. I wish it gave a white background option, the "light" option is slightly grey and (while likely works very well on a tablet) looks off on my large monitor.

Was a blessing this app is for me! Can't wait to see what comes next!

good experience

Although I knew about this extension for a while, I started using the extension only today. Its amazing. I found the read-aloud feature extremely useful and helps you cover more than what you could in a single seating if you were to just read. One enhancement in this feature would make it much more useful. "Abbreviations should be read as separate letters instead of as a word." When you are only listening, this would give you a correct understanding of the article you are reading. Thanks a lot.

Love it! It's great when you need to work on assignments and makes reading articles a whole lot easier! Can change font size & type, hide unnecessary images, add sticky notes, highlight and even read out the webpage aloud (these are the ones that I use - there's so much more) The time estimate also helps to decide whether I can complete reading it right now or would take more time. Would definitely recommend for all!

It's amazing! Very clean interface that's intuitive and easy to use. It has a lot of great features, and all of them are helpful. Nothing feels like extra weight or bloatware. Easy to toggle between a handful of provided light and dark themes and you can fully customize the colors if you want with some simple CSS code. The text-to-speech is very handy as well! There's a ton of voices to choose from. A few seem broken, but most have no problem (I only tested the English ones). I really like the KevinV3 voice personally - it's very clear and doesn't sound too high or too low in pitch. My only complaint is that when you change the speed of the voice, it won't go into effect immediately - you have to hit pause, then play again. Also one other minor thing, although I assume this is something the voice providers need to fix: they don't recognize certain characters, such as em dashes—these things that make an interjection—which should have a vocal pause similar to parentheses. The dictation will just read over them, which will throw you off when it reads a sentence with them.

This is the best reader extension I've tried so far. I love the CSS customization feature in the options. I also like the ability to add and delete text from the document. My favorite use for the app is to clean up an article and print it as a PDF to store in my reference manager.

The extension is great, the most helpful feature for me is read-out-loud.

Awesome, now I can escape the premium payment that is forced by some sites as this quickly copies the entire webpage instantly in simplified view. Also firefox read was not possible for all sites but this has sure made that possible. I also love the read aloud feature that is present. Hats of to the developers

This is amazing. I never knew that this extension existed till now, so many ways to customize it. I can't believe that it is free. I can make it clean up the page, make it read for me, choose to keep the pictures or take all the images away from the page, change the font size and make the page a color that is easy on the eyes. I love this extension.

This extension is great! It does exactly what it claims and does it well! I often print web pages to PDF that provide instructions or process steps. This extension really makes this easy. I especially like the ablility to edit pages, too! Nice job!

If you have trouble with pop up ads or invisible click ads that take you to phishy website this is the answer. it opens a new tab that is clear of those pesky ads. seems to be the only one like this here and its perfect

The best reader view I've found so far !!! My only complaint is that I have to reinstall it almost daily. I don't know why this happens on my computer, but after a while it stops working - after reinstalling it, it works perfectly again for a day or two - this is the only reason why I don't rate it 5 stars

Thank you so very very much! Some sites keep throwing in video boxes and other fluff that often can't be turned off, making those sites nearly unreadable. The white-on-black and larger font size option are also a big help for my declining eyesight.

Without exaggerating this is probably the best non-google extension I have. I am surprised at how many features it has and how well they work.

The existing features available are pretty amazing, but I would like to suggest having a highlighter function in Design Mode so I could annotate the text while I go through it.

What I love about it that it circumvents anti-adblocker overlays.

Cuts off the last several paragraphs of an article when I use Reader View Plus. Maddening to read halfway down and now I must return to the article and fight the ads. Reader View Plus does not work for me. Sad.
