Repost from my review left from an old account on 2022-10-10: I pay $5 a month for Paramount+. That gives me access to a mountain of reasonably high budget content that entertains me for hours. This is Dark Mode for SFDC. What could they even have in common? Ferengi Rule of Acquisition 82: "The flimsier the product, the higher the price" ... Fine. I pay $5 a month for Star Trek. But we're talking Star Trek -a Science Fiction adventure that spans generations- vs an average quality Chrome Extension that I'd be pressed to pay more than $2 an YEAR for, but somehow these yahoos feel entitled to $2.00 monthly for DARK MODE? Get lost. It's Dark Mode. TLDR: I refer you to Ferengi Rule of Acquisition 3: "Never spend more on an acquisition than you have to"
I use Sales force for 40+ hours a week, often at night in dark room. The fact that SalesForce doesn't have a dark mode option in itself is a shame. This extension is something that I definitely need. The developers took advantage of SF shortcomings and made this extension. It does exactly what you'd expect, doesn't glitch or break layout. Is it worth 2$ per month. I guess it could be cheaper. But there is just so many people who really need it and will pay for it any money at all. I can afford 2 bucks per month to make my work more comfortable.
The plugin is great, and the warm colors are much better than actual dark mode. There is nothing wrong with this developer trying to monetize his work, I'm imagining there are many commenters here complaining whom certainly do not ever work for free. #freeconsultants
Charging for a feature that is standard on most platforms should be a cardinal sin. Extremely disappointed.
Payment request for future use received, aaaand it's gone!
I used this extension religiously, now they want a monthly fee? No way! I'd pay a onetime payment of $5... Maybe!
What a shame, NOT GOING TO PAY FOR DARK MODE> Deleting this extension SCAM!

Can't believe you have to pay for darkmode now. Clearly you aren't concerned with people's health.
A dark mode isn't worth any amount of money
was free for a long time- now charging a monthly fee even though the company shells out thousands of dollars- no thanks- will find another extension, especially since this was faulty at best- not all screens have darkmode
This is a 3rd party extension, not official from SalesForce (from what I can tell) so I am not mad at SalesForce for this (they should have their own in house version but that is another issue). I am disappointed at this developer for suddenly deciding to charge for this. Can they do so? Absolutely. Is it worth the money? Absolutely not. This has been uninstalled. I would suggest avoiding this extension all together.
Let me know when it is free again please
No thanks. Uninstalled.
This is a necessity for many people who have to stare at salesforce 40+ hours a week every week of their lives. It's such a shame you are now requiring payment that I have to take our of my work pay in order to save my eyesight. I've tried looking for a free alternative but at this point you're forcing people to pay for a basic function and should be ashamed.
I'm sorry, but it was already bad enough that dark mode required an extension instead of just turning on to match my browser settings. Now you want to charge me $2.16 up front and $2.16 per month after that just to enable basic functionality? This is a SCAM now.
[Spits out his coffee] HAHAHAHAhahahaha........! [Catches breath] WAHAHAHAHAhahahaha........! $2/mo for a dark mode extension in addition to the thousands my company already pays?!? [Resumes drinking coffee]
You are out of your mind if you think I'm going to pay for a color scheme....
Literally charging to change the hex codes on a single browser page. Wonder which level of hell these SquareSpace level developers came out of?
A basic setting was free, now it's paid :(
Imagine charging for a dark mode.
I have used Dark Mode in Salesforce the last 2 years for FREE and due to my migraine. Now out of no were you want to charge people for it. Honestly its disgusting your a Multi-Million dollar company and Half of us don't have a chose because of our employment or small start ups use your platform on a daily basis. Your one of the biggest tech companies and you cant offer this easy technology for free for your millions of customers, I don't think you will be continuing a good customer experience after this. you rather make a few bucks then keep us as happy users. its sad to see. ---Please someone help my migraines are back and I am not paying for this.
Everything was fine until they got greedy! Thanks, but no thanks! I don't need dark mode that much.
This extension was awesome until yall started trying to get over, oh brother. couldn't yall have just added a donate tab like adblocker?
Not paying for color
One of the best features as an admin for salesforce to help save you eyes, however now that it is subscription based its just not worth it even if it is $2.40 as it just changes the colour of my screen.
This was amazing now i have to pay for it? nah im good.
Not going to pay for a color
Use to enjoy this plug in . Now that it no longer is a free product (which is nonsensical as Salesforce has had its own native dark mode until fairly recently at no additional cost) I will no longer be using this extension. Understandably that it requires work to maintain code i will still be looking forward to Salesforce implementing their own dark mode again.
This was so awesome until they charge me for it!!! No.
Was great now they want to charge for it? It's a plugin.... for color..... Scummy.
Used this extension for literally years and now suddenly it gets bought by a much larger dev and is asking for a subscription? Absolutely not. Uninstalled. Do not recommend.
This should be an accessibility option. After 6+ months of use to require a subscription is downright appalling.
No way I am paying
I am not paying for this. After 6 months of use I have uninstalled.
It was working for a proper while and then suddenly just not working at all! please update as newest SF update does not work with this - thanks :)
not paying for this
Shameless money grab. I could see paying a one time purchase of $5 to $10 but not a subscription. Goodbye.
Was 5 star when it worked and when it did not cost money.
Why are you asking me to sign in to use a Chrome extension? That is a major security concern & nobody should do it.
Removing and adding my 1 star feedback as well. Adding a required subscription fee is a sure way to drive an app into the ground. I hope they learn a lesson from this.
Was alright now the extension wants me to sign in? No way I don't know who this company is and I'm certainly not paying for this. Uninstalled and moved on
Was helpful, yet buggy. However, now that you are starting this bait and switch it is time to move elsewhere. I would rate you a 0star if i could for the bait and switch you are doing now!
It was superb until it went paid-only! Rude!
This app does not do well with salesforce. It inverts the image colors which is not optimal and definitely not worthy of a paid subscription. It also hides text sometimes (black background with black text makes for hidden text) and that is frustrating. I put up with it when it was free because... why not? It's better than nothing. But then they changed to a paid subscription... I swapped to Sauron and it works better with Salesforce than this extension. I recommend it! The text is never hidden and it does not invert image colors. BONUS: That extension works on most websites so one and done!
I understand asking for compensation - devs probably have to update the extension when Salesforce updates to keep dark mode working. A reoccurring monthly subscription fee seems like overkill though. Maybe $10-$15 one time fee?
Everyone use DARK READER chrome extension. Very good replacement. Very frustrated like all other users. Not worth $24/yr to just change the colors.
Lame subscription bait and switch
Same boat as everyone else. Came in to see my Salesforce tabs all white and blinding. A little heads up would have been nice. $24/year is a bit much for an extension that only changes colors on a page. Bait and switch is going to make this extension disappear.
Why the sudden requirement to login added permission requirements??? That's sketchy AF. I really LOVED this extension until this morning. No WAY am I logging into my account or granting permissions. Way to scare away people who care about security whatsoever.....
If you properly promoted receiving donations instead of a sudden sketchy pay wall people would be happy and gladly donate instead of hating you now. Sad to come to work and have a white salesforce now.. my eyes hurt
bait and switch slime balls, randomly went to a pay wall
$2/month
This was a great app. Suddenly, this morning a new permission to read and change all your data on all websites. Very suspicious to try and sneak this through. Although I wasn't notified of a fee, many others are reporting that they now have to pay. No thanks. Consider it gone.
Really liked this extension, it really helped with improving headaches and eye strain when using salesforce all day, but now they would like a subscription fee its sadly having to go. My employers wouldn't pay for this and i'm not prepared to set up a subscription for a chrome extension on a work computer. The cost of living is getting out of control as it is without having to pay for having things in a different colour!
Sudden change to permissions and sketchy introduction of a subscription model... Will find something else.
Same as all the other recent reviews below, have used this for 2+ years at least, loved the ability to change to/from dark mode without reloading chrome but not worth whatever subscription they are now trying to charge. Also the permissions are a bit suspect...
:( Charging $2. Please make it free
This is trial version with subscription - $2 per month for dark mode. Avoid!!!
Like everybody else, I loved this app but it isn't worth the subscription fee for something another app can do for free. I will be uninstalling this app
This was fine when it was free. Definitely not paying a subscription for something that should come standard with every site and app.
Was OK to help with SalesForce being so bright. As of today, it is asking for a subscription fee - not worth it. Uninstalling now.
It Worked very well until today. They started asking for money! HA HA what a joke. I am deleting this!!!!
Imagine not having a free Darkmode of your product in 2022. I completely agree that it was an Okay product but nothing worth paying for at this time. Uninstalled.
well in the same position, was free now a charge.. yup uninstalling.
Don't pay for this app. Try this instead. paste this into Chrome address bar: chrome://flags/#forced-colors. Then search for "Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents" and enable it. Relaunch Chrome and all sites including salesforce will be dark. Repeat steps to disable.
Been using for months with no issues and now its trying to charge a subscription. What a joke
Had this and worked great for months.....It's now a monthly subscription. A small one-time fee might have been OK, but a monthly subscription is absurd for what you are getting! It looks like I'm not alone in these remarks.....
Worked great, then it went to hell and they wanted money monthly for it.... Nah
It was working fine and it was free, now it doesn't work properly AND you want money?? It makes all the photos show up inverted making it impossible to use So you break the app/extension and then proceed to ask for $$... Doesn't add up. Whoever allowed this is genuinely retarded, uninstalling this bs.
Big mistake to ask for a subscription.
Agreed with all the users before me, it's non-functional now and it was ok before.
It only worked ok, now these jokers wanna charge a subscription to use it - hahahaha have fun watching us all uninstall it.
Was great! Like others have called out, now you have to pay $2 a month. I wouldn't mind a one time fee, but a subscription? No thanks.
$2 a month? Come on... How money grab can you become... I am deleting this.
Adding my ticket to the pile, used this extension for awhile and loved how it was done, but now they want to put it behind a pay wall. Its a bummer they went this route but onto the next one.
Stupid to charge people for something like this. Consider it removed.
I could never imagine I will have to pay for a basic visual extension that only works on 1 site. I refuse to live in a reality where I have to pay $2 monthly to be able to use this visual enhancement.
Used this extension for years and loved it. Until today when they are now asking me to pay a subscription fee. I'll be removing the extension immediately
Loved it until they wanted to put a sub on it with the verifications... not worth it.
Worked well enough before, but not worth a dime if I have to log in. Removed.
Used this for years and was a great alternative when SF disabled dark mode in their Lightning Extension. Now they went sub based and want $2/month for dark mode among other invasive permissions. Bye.
Absolute garbage from the developers, now you need to give it access to read ALL site data as well as pay them for the privilege. DO NOT DOWNLOAD.
Worked fine and now doesn't work.
Was fine till today when it started not to work and ask me to log in ? well that is now removed :(
Like other's are saying. Was great, now they want access to all sites (I'm assuming to sell data) and they are now a sub based extension.. Seems like breaking trust and double dipping on greed if you ask me.
Use this for my work and have sensitive eyes. was a game changer for when dark mode was available and now you are charging people? talk about greedy. can't let people just have one thing can ya.
Was great till this morning when I had to signup. Not interested in paying for this.
Everything was fine until Greed crept in. Definitely not worth paying for.
expanded permissions to all sites AND now charging $2 a month!?!? Garbage people...
Went to Subscription based! Not okay at all
Gotta be kidding me, you want $2 a month to invert the colours of a site? How greedy, will gladly delete this one and find an alternative.
Great extension, till I had to pay a monthly fee. Deleted!
Nobody is gonna pay 2 bucks a month. A one time fee maybe but a monthly subscription for dark mode, lol thanks for ruining the best extension for work. There are alternatives, people will find them. Later jerks!
Was the best one available for years. Now its a paid subscription for $2 a month. On top of that expanded access to other sites. No Thanks Buh Buy.
Great while it lasted. Unfortunately it looks like they're asking for a subscription now. Time to move on to other options it looks like. Thank you for the extension while it lasted!
Was great until it went to a paid extension. You don't care about our eyes you just care about your pockets. (sigh)
Was the best solution for dark mode in SFDC for years but now went to a monthly paid subscription model. One of the wilder money grabs I've seen. Uninstalled.
Switched to a pay-per-month service when other add-ons still perform the same functionality. Sauron is free and works on most of SFDC. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sauron-dark-mode-for-all/fleolcdonmhbeppkijpfbhfhpceehiic?hl=en
just changed to a paid extension. No thanks uninstalled not worth
And suddenly I come in this morning and you are charging money for this? WOW. Really disappointed.
No noticed, just changed to a paid extension. $2/month? Nope. DELETED.
Money Grab
