Not working again for me since last chrome update...is there a fix again?
A true godsend. It's actually a big improvement on Chrome's (annoyingly removed) "Search By Image" feature. Google Lens is still useless. You can have the option to select the specific image & the actual image can be sent for processing instead of just the URL. Not to mention support for many other services.
Excellent Program :D
Great and useful app! I only use Google, Yandex and Tineye as the options to search, the rest are damned useless sites, which isn't the app's fault, of course.
Only flaw is that it doesn't work with local files opened in browser.
The best at what it does. After installing, right click on it -> Options -> Context Menu -> Search from context menu -> Check the sources you want. Basically the most convenient extension I used so far.
The best extension in this regard. It also works with local file (make sure you enable the permision in settings) which is a must to have for me.
Google Lens is trash, this brings back the original Google Image Search that we all want and rely on. Silly of them to remove the flag from the hidden options
only one that's worked for me google lens/image search disappeared, other author's addons won't work
Amazing.
Best
I loved it until google killed it with google lens, such a shame.
Last two days I've been getting "Search by image is unavailable. Please try again in a few hours" when I search in Google.
Last few days I've been getting "Search by image is unavailable. Please try again in a few hours" when I search in Google.
Love this add-on but recently the yandex search just opens the image in a new tab.
Thank you so much! Google Lens doesn't do anything that I want to do. Sometimes it is useful but most of the time I'm looking for a higher resolution of an image. I feel like what I want to do is bad or something and being punished for it. I'm just trying to find the images that I want. Someone posts a thumbnail or lower quality image that I like? I want to find a bigger picture! Simple. Or I want to find the source of a comic or something else I saw. Now people are being cheated out of a good feature because they have to take an extra step to get to it. I wish changes to good things like this would stop, even YouTube has done this with removing the dislike button and I just don't understand why things can't just be left alone.
Tried to find this picture that came up on my lock screen/bing site. This is the only extension that worked. TY *Here is the picture I was searching for btw( Kameiwa Cave in Shimizu Keiryu Park, Kimitsu, Japan )
I came across this addon "Search by Image" after being recommended and google and chrome losing search by image feature but the dev of this addon thinks everybody using chrome, google and bing. There is no option for duckduckgo image search, brave search image, mojeek, startpage search image, you.com image search, ecosia image search, swisscow image search. Can dev consider adding that too? I use brave, edge and opera and in opera addon seems to work 50 percent only. Your addon works in kiwi browser where it can be improved. Thanks.
Google took away a good feature to replace it with their useless lens; this extension brought it back.
Suddenly can't search by images anymore on google. Error is "The URL doesn't refer to an image, or the image is not publicly accessible." This is even for images on public sites. Looks like Google is blocking the API maybe?
Totally awsome... it make my work 20 time faster... thank you thank you thank you
so much care put into this, thanks so much to the devs
New permissions are not okay.
Not safe anymore, idk why devs decide to add this new addition. EDIT: they reverted the permission after many people requested it and now its gone.
Exactly what I need
I have been using it over one year now and I recommend. You can choose among 40 different preselected search engines for your right click context.
Super-invasive permissions are now required. Including reading/changing all data on all websites, and snooping on your copy/paste. Telltale signs that this is going the way of the Great Suspender—an originally helpful extension that exploited its large user base to quietly become adware/malware.
clipboard permissions was a late april fool's joke
Removed due to newly required clipboard permissions for a rare use case
No need for clipboard data, dev behaving like it's not a security issue
New permissions are terrible, I have been getting ads that I wasnt getting before. I'm removing it.
Its the best image searcher there is but the new permissions suck and are invasive. No way will I let any extention read my browsing history or have access to my clipboard. Too risky and I've been burned too many times by extentions. Such a shame
So far so good. I like it had options to search other imaging tools, but I never like those others so I turned them all off and I like that it gave me the option to turn them off.
It was great until it started asking to read what I copy and paste. Now I have to uninstall it due to privacy concerns.
Clipboard permissions
Due to clipboard permissions
Reading the clipboard is a must-not.
I'm not giving 5* due to the recent changes regarding the clipboard data, I can see it's uses but it needs an ON/OFF switch... There are things in my clipboard that should not be openly readable by an extension of Chrome.
Why does it suddenly need permission to "read data you copy and paste"?
It would be nice but it requires too many permissions!
People who are 1-starring this great extension because of the recent changes need to chill the F down. It's open-source FFS, just open the github page and see why a new permission was asked: it's for a feature that allows you to search for the image in your clipboard. Permissions are not optional at the moment because the author has to provide support for many browsers, some of which don't support optional stuff. And you already allowed it to access most of your data anyway (which is also understandable: it allows this extension to function properly). It's Chrome's fault that it doesn't allow you to explain the reason why a new permission was asked and it's people's fault that they can't do their own research.
29/03/22 Now asking for accept reading data user copy and pastes - not sure why this is and will not be allowing it.
suddenly today this extension wants to read the data I copy and paste....
Read data you copy and paste
Needs permission to things I copy/paste now. No thanks.
Reverse image search should be enabled by default in Chrome, not the stupid Lens. Shame on Google.
Once again, I have to install an addon to restore a convenient function that Google needlessly removed from their software without questioning it's users or providing an option to restore it. So now, instead of searching by image, I can search with 'Google Lens'. I want to find out where this image of a person throwing a ball came from? Who cares! Now I get to see thousands of similar images instead, rather than being able to find other versions of the same image. I know things were sad when the feature was crippled shortly after introduction because of stock image sites started complaining that people are now able to find more images that they desire without having to pay money for a dang jpeg. And it's a big corporation so it's bound to do sketchy stuff based on users having "too much freedom". I get it. But I still am surprised at how much further they can go with stuff like this.
The best chrome extension for reverse image search! and Armin (dev) is actively fixing and improving it... the features and the supported search engines make this supperior to all other extensions so save yourself time and just use this one! and please don't forget to support this brilliant developer!
5 star here + 1 star in your github repository for being opensource. (y)
It always shows "Something went wrong. Searching on Google has failed." What am I doing wrong?
So sad google decided to remove this feature and now I need to use this extension. Thanks to developer, but this need was created artificially..
Super helpful since my chromebook won't let me disable that STUPID GOOGLE LENS SEARCH no matter what I try, this is the only way to get back to it right not, It's just like nomal THANK YOU!!!
No clue why google is pushing lens... this fixed my issue and let me reverse search images again. TY.
Much better than being forced to use Google Lens!
Where have I been all this time!? this is a must have, super helpful especially after not being able to disable 'search with google lens' so called feature. Thank you!
So useful after the last Chrome update! Thank you!
Amazing, I've been looking for something like this for quite a while. I've been using Brave Search in the Brave browser for some time now, and the only thing missing for me was the option to search for an image.
At last! A workaround to the dire Google lens! Thank you so much for this. Works perfectly.
yes thank you this is adblock level helpful
Amazing, just what I needed. Only issue is that I can't drag and drop the order of the engines. It's just a list of checkbox and text for me, nothing to grab.
Works flawlessly.Just needs support for local files.
Enjoy the extension but I noticed it won't search for an image you load up. I drug a picture from my computer to chrome, it appears. Right click - search by image doesn't appear. Sort of makes it about 30% less useful to me.
I really hope this guy isn't stealing my info or passwords but now on March 5, 2022 and stupid Google wants to force us to use Google Lens I have no choice but to use this. This or switch browsers TBH. So far it works just like the Google version they took from us. I hope they don't take this guy down or patch it out. TLDR: It works great, just like the normal version Google took from us.
Hey Google, get ******. Nobody likes "Google Lens".
Thank you so much!
The monkeys at google continue to ruin their browser, Forcing me to search using google lens? Awful. Thank you for making a great extension thats even BETTER than what google had before.
--- Español / Spanish --- Perfecto La mayoría de extensiones que tengo instaladas son para que Chrome no me toque los huevos. Esta extensión me sirve para NO usar Lens :D --- English / Inglés --- Perfect Most of the extensions that I have installed are so that Chrome does not touch my balls. This extension helps me NOT to use Lens :D
Thank you! I don't understand why Chome keep forcing me to use Lens.
this is SO GOOD, I really don't know why google removed this feature, but thank you sooo much for bringing this feature back!
Perfect!
It would be a lot better if you were allowed to add whatever search engine you would like to add. Startpage and duckduckgo would be a nice start, but there are definitely other locations that it would be nice to be able to add on a case by case basis.
THANK U! no idea why google would remove this feature in favor of their far inferior google lens feature that I have never found accurate or useful
So much helpful
This addon is very useful especially since Google now uses Lens instead of legacy reverse image search. Much appreciation to the devs who maintaining this addon.
Installed the extension because Chrome replaced image search with google lens. This works great and also provides other image search services, which is useful. Good job!
Been using this for a while on firefox, and finally decided to look it up on chrome. To me it's super useful, but I'm surprised at how few people are using it. It adds an item to your context menu, and from any page, you can right click an image, select a search engine from a dropdown, or open them all, and get results in new window. It really has it all, and it's much easier than having to go to google, and yandex, and whatever else, cause it's all in one.
A good extension. However, the author breaks the browsing experience to beg for money multiple times, ruining an otherwise quality experience.
the best of its kind tbh. deserves more downloads.
just what I was looking for!
Doesn't work with Imagus extension where other reverse image search extensions do. Otherwise it works fine.
The option to customize which search engines to use makes this extension the GOAT
Just as fluent as built-in one in Chrome
This has helped me so many times that I would be remiss not to leave a positive review. Very rare that it ever malfunctions. Huge time saver.
Easy to use. One click away to new background tabs.
Awesome. Used for over a year. Would recommend
awesome image searcher, love it for the simplicity.
Please fix Yandex
This extension works very well.
it used to work, but now it doesnt. i've disabled and enabled it again but still
Excellent utility
MentalOutlaw on YT brought me here, nice!
Really dum it makes my computer really laggy
Saved me a lot of time with my "scientific researches" if you know what I mean.
Great extension
There is no way to actually use it? I click on the extension in my tool bar, and it gives me the option to search different websites and then there is nothing happening after that...no way to actually select an image and search?
Works great
Good tool
Excellent! Hope, extension is going to last, best regards to devs and men who sustain it
the best.
Brilliant! At last the image search extension that really works, have all the needed options and nice modern interface. Excellent job, Armin!
Very useful and I appreciate that they keep pushing out updates to this extension
I loved this on Firefox and I going to continue loving it here now.
this extension works perfectly wonderful job team good work. it's v benefit
Exactly what I needed.
By far the best extension I use. It is invaluable. I just switched from FF to Chrome and first thing I did was make sure this extension was available. If it hadn't it would have been back to FF or Slimjet. Thank you dev
Very useful and powerful extension for finding images over various search engines. This extension has made my image search super convenient and productive. Many many thanks to the developer.
Doesn't support local files.
