Finally found a fix for chrome's auto gain control feature (that you can't disable for some reason) which now allows me to use my favorite spectrograph website. Thanks for making this :D!
Solve my issue with my bluetooth mic volume which decreased continuously every time I use it on Google Meet
Useful and it just works
Works! But if you can't install the extension for some reason, give this a try. type "chrome://flags/" into your Chrome Search for "microphone" On the "Allow WebRTC to adjust the input volume" select the default dropdown and change to disable.
When it works, it is fantastic. But if frequently fails to prevent the adjustment.
Solved all of my problems. Now _please_ write a full macOS version so that nothing ever auto adjusts my inputs!
Fixed my problem with Microsoft Teams webapp.
Because of this extensions there is some disturbance on the call. I work as customer support representative, Their voice and my voice keep breaking up. Once i disable for a while. It fixes the issue. But it works so well "microphone levels auto adjusting". I wish it wasn't cause the disturbance.
On Mac, my bluetooth earbuds kept auto muting. This extension fixed it. Love it.
Fixed the dreaded "Muted" issue with Jabra earphones. Amazing work, and props to Richard Bloomfied for figuring it out and recommending this extension https://richardbloomfield.blog/2021/12/my-ear-buds-keep-auto-muting-themselves/
selfless work from hero's like you literally shouldn't be given out for free i commend you for doing what google cant be asked to allow us to do easily
Fixes MacOS auto mic gain control bugs like-a-boss!
I realize this is just for Google Meets - is there anyway you have another plugin that might work for other third party softwares like this? My call center uses ServiceTitan and it keeps changing my gain :( this plugin doesn't seem to work for it
We have bought good microphones with which should filter surrounding sounds and still ran into the problem of hearing everyone in Chrome based browsers, finally found this extension which is a clear lifesaver, thanks!
Not all heroes wear capes
Liked it while it worked. Doesn't seem to work anymore. My only fix now is using Firefox for Google Meet.
Works very well in Chrome 100.0.4896.88 !!
Not working for Google Meet
Was working great on google meet and my Jabra earbuds until recently in March 2022
Worked flawlessly until today: I was asked to provide permissions, allowed mic, but the extension doesn't turn on anymore. Hopefully it can be fixed.
For some reason its stopped to work in google meet for me
Thank you. It's help me on Ubuntu 20.04 OS
Wow, I have dreamed about this for a long time. How great. Thanks so much. How do we buy you a cup of coffee?
It is great, the only problem is I have to turn it on and give permissions every time i enter a Bigbluebutton conference for university, I think this is because their urls work like this: https://xxxxxxx.xxxxxxxx.blindsidenetworks.com/ where the X spaces always change. If that was fixed it would be perfect.
Oh my god I love you
Unfortunately it's not working for me for 2 reasons: 1) I'm using Loom extension to record videos/audio on Chrome, and when the Disable Automatic Gain Control is on or off, it doesn't change a thing, I can still see my mic gain change in windows sound settings. 2) I would also need to be able to switch this app on/off for every website at once, and not every time I need to record a new video (in my use case, I record videos on different websites everyday, so it's a little annoying). For now, I will keep using Voicemeter software, which does the job very well, but it has some minor downsides too when managing sound level, which is why I would have love this extension to work. I hope this comment will help to improve the extension, I'll change my rating if it's fixed in the future.
This plugin is awesome! Tested it out: Plugin is off: volume goes all over the place (I can see it moving on the sound panel) Plugin is ON: volume stays the same. Absolutely awesome, cheers!!
HELL YEAH!!! It works and it is versatile...
for some reason its still increasing my microphone level in messenger
IT WORKS!!! I have a very sensitive mic and every time I raised my voice the AGC would go overboard, now it never happens.
Honestly Something That Chrome Should Have As Built-In Feature. Its The Little Things That Make The Biggest Difference, However It Would Be Nice If It Auto-Allowed Itself Whenever I Go To A New Site That Requires Mic. It Saves It To On When You Hit Allow The First Time, So Honestly, If You're Having Sound Issues... Get This Now!
Thank you so much!!! Works fine.
I believe I am following everything correct- have authorized the extension and have the 'On' button activated for Google Meets however my microphone input volume is still being automatically lowered to the point where Google Hangouts is muting my microphone. Is it possible this isn't working anymore with Monterey?
This extension is a godsend, but..although it worked like a charm on my personal M1 Macbook Air, for some reason it's not working on my work Macbook Pro (Intel-based). I use Google Meet on both using the Chrome Browser. Any advice, Joey? I even toggled Hardware Acceleration, but that also doesn't seem to have had any effect.
I'm so glad I found this extension. I have a high pitch voice which I hate when becomes super-loud without me knowing - so this definitely helps. Thanks a lot, and I hope this gets more recognition!
Thank you for sharing this fix!
Love this, why is not a default on Chrome? This is what I was needing as I'm virtual and the gain picks up more noise than needed
Thanks you. It's a shame that someone had to write an app to disable a "stupid" feature that Google Chrome purposely implemented. I just wish Chrome would have an option to turn it off. I don't simply want it off for a few website, I want it off all the time, for every website. The Automatic Gain Control feature should not exist in the first place.
You made my day bro! Thank you very much!
Thank you so much. I have spent 1 year trying to weed out the various apps that auto eff with my mic gain. Windows 10 needs this setting. Thanks again.
ty
WHOEVER MADE THIS GOD BLESS YOU
Works wonders. I've been trying to do a voice recording through an online recorder as requested by an employer and Chrome kept lowering my mic volume. I couldn't hear myself in the recording but got fixed after getting this extension. This helped a lot! Thank you.
As far as I know, this extension is the only solution for this problem. Hats of to you Joey
The entire Chrome project needs to be transferred to Joey. Google is incompetent.
Works on linux 5.4 (Manjaro) as well. Thank you my man for making this
Hi, thanks for this extension, may i know can i self host the extension?
Awesome, dont know why Meet team let that happend ? Thank you, Joey Watts You saved my life
it worked perfectly! Thanks a lot!
THANK YOU Ive been looking for a fix for so long and this completely changed my life. I love u joey watts for making this
Man, you made me cry. Thank you so much♥
Amazing! Now I can speak freely on discord while I'm on lunch break in google meet
is this a virus
THANK YOU!
Thanks, this extension also work on Microsoft Edge. I have try it.
I was amazed that I had to resort to a chrome extension to fix this issue on my mac, but I'm glad I found this one, as it works like a charm.
I enjoy this extension very much but I don't think it should be needed if google would just fix it. I appreciate the extension very much and I recommend you add it to chrome if your mic level keeps on adjusting while using chrome in meets or any website that chrome uses your mic in
YOU'RE KILLING IT MAN THANK YOU!!!
its does not work sometimes
Thank you so much , i've had this problem for a very long time !
Mad lad, insane we need to create an extension for this, but it works. Thanks a bunch!
After trying to figure out what program was changing my microphone volume level, I was very glad to have found this. Thank you.
Thank you!
very nice
It works! Thanks!
Thank you so much, this helped out a lot. I tried everything and this really worked!
I had recently bought the yeti Nano and continually had problems with google meets adjusting my gain even though I had disabled it in settings. This extension worked like a charm, I no longer have problems with my mic gain!
Man you are a life saver
Thanks for making this, was really annoying having my volume go from 48 to 80 and me having to manually lower it.
You sir are a life saver. I love you.
I love this extension!! This really made my day. Thank you so much for making it but is there a way to just enable it automatically for all website instead of clicking it all the time? The option is somehow disabled for me
Thank you so much, works perfectly for me! Btw is there a way do disable auto gain control without the extension?
Thanks so much!
Works perfectly. I had a Blue Yeti microphone that was very sensitive, and Chrome would always adjust the gain without me asking, despite turning off that setting in Windows 10. Since installing this extension and using it on Google Meet where I have my classes, I have not had a single problem with my microphone's gain being changed without my approval.
TYSM! I found you on a forum and you really helped. You'd figure they would do it themselves and fix the problem but you'd be figuring wrong.
I'm not really sure why everyone is saying it's working cos it literally isn't do anything for me when i open omegle and speak my mic is still going up and down so can u explain why it's not working there?
This isn't an extension, this is a fix for a broken 'feature' (virus) that Google refuses to remove. Yes, autogaincontrol is a virus. It's something I don't want and can't remove or disable that has damaging effects on my system. That's a virus. This 'extension' disables that virus and fixes chrome/chromium.
THANK YOU!!!!!!! Chrome has been maxing my mic volume at 100% in every meeting I join from Chrome (i.e. Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, etc.). It's been driving me crazy! This extension has fixed the issue. You sir are awesome!
As others have mentioned, absolute life saver. I work from home, bought a USB headset recently, and I couldn't figure out why my mic sound kept going all the way to 100. We were using Jitsi and Gotomeeting through browser... Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this, I have been so mad trying to figure out why it keeps changing and this fixed it, THANK YOU.
Thank You :)))
Dude, I honestly might have to make a video on this... You deserve all the fame thanks!
THANK YOU! Why they have this issue listed as WontFix is beyond me, but I appreciate the extension to do this! Now things will be a bit better on Discord. THANKS AGAIN!
my meeting sites always gain my mic sound then i discovered this extension which tends to solve my problem, i wrote this review to say thank u to the owner of this extension
People need to know about this!!! You are literally so amazing. I have been searching the web forever to find something. I cannot thank you enough for solving this migraine of a problem.
Thank you very much! I can't believe this isn't a standard feature in Chrome.
Hey man, I love what you got goin' on here! This is what I've been lookin' for, and I was wondering if you could broaden the versatility on this extension a little bit by making it usable on all sites. Hope you find the time to do this and again, just a little personal thing that would make it a whole lot easier for me. Thanks!
Dude you have no idea how mad this drove me! I have a sensitive set of headphones that would reset volume to 0 whenever mic input vol was changed, and with Meet messing around with the gain, it was a pain to use. Thanks for your extension, you just made my Mac machine usable again!
