It seems like the new update in the Google Interfaces affected some parts of its code. I found a new alternative though! Check out the 'Black Apps Script' extension.
The app stopped working a week ago or so. Before - it was okay.
suddenly stop working 18-Mar-2023
Love this extension, and like others have reported, I have been missing the folder feature for some days now. After reviewing the github for this extension, I wanted to add that the developer is aware of the issue as of ~3/13/23. Hopefully there will be a fix soon...
cool, but no longer work at chrome 111.0.5563.65, please fix
Stopped working 1 day ago :( For those who use the dark mode, in the meantime you can solve it with the high contrast theme from the command palette (F1). Waiting for the update.
It is not working in Google Chrome.
I love this extension but it suddenly stopped working. I hope it will be fixed soon.
this was working great until today. As of today, the main dark/light toggle icon has disappeared and this is no longer working. Did something happen?
I have loved this extension, but no longer working as of 3/8/2023. I imagine it has something to do with the UI update Google pushed out for all the Docs Editors. I hope to have this back soon!
I have been a fan of Jean-Rémi Delteil AppsScriptColor for a while now. My favourite dark theme is Darcula with it's off-black background and softer text colours, but Monokai and BlackFoxConsole are solid themes. You can convert to darktheme by selecting the sun/moon button or press F1 to open the Apps Script IDE command palette and search for AppsScriptColor to find other colour options. I also enjoy the added benefit of the folder tree whenever uploading from a Clasp project. Google should really make an offer to Jean-Rémi to integrate his app into the project propper. In the meantime, is there a way to make a small donation to such a helpful product?
Was looking for dark mode, but the folder display is a killer!
when you have multiple files, clicking on another file doesn't remove the highlighting from the previous file. otherwise GREAT! can't live without it.
Awesome! Thanks for creating this! Would be even greater if there were a couple of more colors, or the possibility to pick colors in the new Editor.
This doesn't seem to work with the new editor. I've tried multiple times and no luck.
Thank you, this was badly needed. My eyes thank you profusely!
Does not work on the new app scripts IDE.
It worked for me in a few days, but today the Color tab disappeared and the background turned into White again. I think its cause chrome update? Could dev please take a look at it. I enabled the Script API https://script.google.com/home/usersettings Thank you!!!
It's a great tool but as you know, a lot of your users are also trying to use GitHub - GAS extension as well. the problem is that you can't use them both at the same time. It would be better if you could make this extension compatible with other GAS extensions specifically the GitHub integrator extension. Keep up the great work!
I love this Add-on! Do you have any plans to enable theme editor for the new Apps Script IDE? The custom themes I have created in Legacy editor are not available in the new IDE. Also, Dracula theme appears to be slightly off in terms of colours in the new IDE. Is there a way I could edit the default Dracula theme for the new IDE? Keep up the great work!
Great Work! My Eyes are happy to use this tool :) but i can't join to the control panel of the script to change the theme or colors :)
New google scripts app breaks this! Please change the debug line / line break color from dark purple on Darcula theme to a brighter color. Dark purple on black is so hard to see.
A must have for developping in the GS enviroment. Folders don't seem to work very well when trying to combine gs and html however. doGet() doesn't seem to like to recognize the folder system when changing html page.
I loved it up until the update but now extension only works on legacy editor. Please fix it for the new scripts update
This extension was working great until today when Google broke it with their "new" Apps Script editor.
There is nothing like this. Thanks a lot Jean. You are an amazing developer. Have been using this extension for a long time now. Great extension. Please make this available for the new script editor.
Can you make top panel dark as well?
Great idea and absolutely necessary, but unfortunately straight up doesn't work any more with current versions of Chrome :(
I like it in general, but, the most important option "custom pallete" is not working, or I don't know how to save new themes. The button "save" is always disabled after edit. Aside this issue it would be a 5star. EDIT: I found the way, not much intuitive IMHO: first copy then it can save a new theme.
Love it! Thanks Jean-Rémi! One thing that might help in the theme editor: display the actual color of each element (besides the rgb value).
Love this extension. Are there plans for it to be updated to work nicely with the new V8 runtime update? Arrow functions seem to remove a lot of the syntax highlighting!
Really great.
This extension is a must-have if you use google apps script. I do everything in 'black fox console.' Saved my eyesight!
Nice and great! Thank you so much, this made my coding cooler! But need to add more dark themes from say Atom editor, they are nicer than Darkula
Jean, this extension is amazing. Can't thank you enough..
I can't see the Color tab. I've installed & re-installed the extension and still can't see it. Any suggestions?
Brilliant extension. Love the Darcula theme.
Just what I needed. So tired of blinding white background
I really liked this extension, but it's not longer working for me. Does anyone know if I'm missing something?
Hello Everybody! Jean-Rémi Delteil, thank You for this Nobel winner extension, it makes the world better. I made some barbarian hack on it, please excuse me but i think it's helpful for the others too. The white color text is confused me, so i did some research to change the colors, and got luck. Now i want to share it, with You all. First i download the extension with "Chrome extension source viewer", then extract the zip i got and open "injectColor.min.js" (with "https://html-css-js.com/js/editor/" an online javascript editor. I could format this files text.) then modify the meaningful entries in the file. For example: ".cm-s-default span.cm-variable-3": {color: "#ffc66d"}, and save it. On chromes extension tab, with developer mode on, i could open the extracted and modified folder as "unpacked extension" and test it. (When i modify the .js file and save it in an editor (i use VisualCode) i just need to refresh the unpacked extension and see the changes in google script editors window.) After I finished with the color changes i needed to change the version numbers in the .json file, save it and simply click on pack extension, point to the folder and the key file next to it, and after install the packed extension manually. (drag it on the extension tab.) Aand thats all. Notice: You need to manually install the packed extension on every machine where you want to use it. I hope I will not annoy anyone. Robert
Great. you coloring my life. can you provide more colors theme? thank you
Awesome extension. Great work Jean.
I can't work without this extension. Would love to see more color schemes (like Sublime's style), or be able to create custom palettes.
Great tool, but 1 thing missing for me. When you use any colors that are not default, the top part of the page colors change as well. The page background remains white, however the "File", "Edit" etc. are all grey. It can be temporarily ammended by going to inspect the HTML and changing the body color but would love if the menu text remained white (or if possible the entire upper part of the editor color changed as well)
great job! my eyes can rest now ... Appreciated
I used this Chrome extension for a fairly in-depth project for a client recently. I couldn't have done it without AppsScript! Or I could have, but it would have been much harder on my eyes. I appreciate being able to code in the Google Scripts editor window just like in my native IDE. You Rule, Jean!
Awesome when it works! I had no problems until yesterday the Color tab disappeared and everything went back to white background. I've disabled all other extensions and that didn't work. I uninstalled and reinstalled AppsScript Color and that's not working either. If I can get this extension working again then definitely back to 5 stars! Anyone know why all of a sudden it went back to white background and Color tab disappeared?
So far It's the all around winner. If I install a theme or extension that messes with it, out it goes. Don't be messin' with my AppsScript Color man!
Superb extension. Can we fix the description text, please? It needs to read: This extension changes the color style of the Google Apps Script Editor. It also allows use of folders with folder/subFolder/file. Thank you!
The most useful Appscript Developer extension. Context sensitive text coloring makes identifying issues in your code so much easier. Multiple color schemes make the eyes so much happier :)
Just want I needed
This is one of the most useful extensions you can find.
This app is amazing. I just discovered it and was astonished how it provided two solution at once that I needed. Please continue your excellent work Jean. Would you consider open-sourcing this app so that others can help? Also how can we donate to you to express our appreciation and support?
It's very good app extension for app script.
I spend a ton of time working in Apps Script, and the white background burns my eyes so badly. Thank you for this. You'll save me quite a few headaches.
I love this app; it is extremely helpful. I have scripts with dozens of files. The folders have become almost essential for me. I have lost the folders a few times and then have to reorganize the files.
The best part about this app is not the ability to change the color of the theme, but to add folders to your google app script page. Thank you for making this extension.
So simple, but yet sorely needed! I have a lot of trouble scripting with the default white background, so this app is a lifesaver.
This app is amazing! I am having one problem where I don't see the dark theme the first time I open Scripts. I basically have to reselect my theme every time I open up a google script. Oddly enough, If i disable cache using the chrome debugger, the dark theme will load first time.
Great work! And easy on the eyes! :)
It feels like you're a pro developer .O_0. Nice work!
Cool extension. Finally got the feel of developer ;) . Nice and easy to eyes. If there is a god, he will give you everything you desire!
Is it possible to build folder from folder styled file names: "folder/subfolder/mycode.gs"?
Glad it was updated to fix the font issue. Makes the GAS editor almost useable. Thanks for the great work!
The menu stays white but the text in the menu is gray (the drop downs are fine though). Would also be nice to be able to customise the colours a bit.
Where have you been all my life?! Actually, just the past few months, because I've just started playing with Apps Script, but... you get the idea ;-)
If you make my life better, then you get 5 stars. Period.
Love it. Could do with 'blackboard' for that 5th star
Nice to the eyes, liked it a lot.
Can't wait for custom themes
Much better than the white background, thanks!
Amazing! Could you add keyboard shortcuts to switch files?
This is Great!
Amazingly helpful. Thanks Jean-Remi.
