I love keeping track of everything so this is a fun extension! And really helpful to see what I should be spending more/less time on. thank you!
The best active time tracker. helps me understand where I am spending time and where I am wasting time. It is absolutely a must have if you are a productivity fan.
It doesn't work at all. Totally wasted my time.
Hands down the best time-management extension; not only does the site have a clean and appealing interface, but it has many tools and functions that have made life a lot easier for habitual procrastinators such as myself.
Can not work on chromebook
Currently not very useful at all. Had an error it didn't notify me about that kept it from logging my activities for a month, and after that it reset my setting for not having the RescueTime application on my computer (I do but I'm using Vivaldi, where the tracking doesn't work quite right and it doesn't pick up my websites), which meant it didn't log time to my RescueTime account. I was thinking of re-buying Premium while it's on sale right now because FocusTime was so helpful when I had that free six months after I signed up and I can't find blocking software exactly like that for cheaper, but if it's not logging the things it would end up blocking, it's useless.
It doesn't work with my chromebook ... and even on my regular laptop it doesn't track consistently (eg. only tracked 2 hours for 4-5 hours, during the set work hours).
This has helped me with my productivity significantly!!
I cant believe ths is free! Ive only installed it yesterday but Ive explored all that it can do for me and I am thoroughly impressed with the idea of it and had no issues so far with its one day use so far. I can see some reviewers who have been using it for the past 2 years with a couple of fusses but nothing major so I look forward to using this to keep myself in check. I think this would greatly benefit from further growth in functionality and would be an app I would pay for if it continues to work.
this is a cool extension
helps me realize what the heck i'm doing with my life 10/10
It is a great software ... But my work computers are offline and all these feature are unavailable unless I'd log in. I wish there was another option
Free version lol
צריך עוד קצת לשפר את הגרף שיציג בצורה יותר נוחה את הנתונים ולא כל שניה לעבור לאתר שלהם כדי להבין את הגרף
I love this not only for the extension, but it works across all my platforms seamlessly... has an app for Android, Linux, Windows and iOs - all things that I use almost daily. I love this stuff and even paid for a premium subscription because it adds so much value. I would not have paid if it didn't work across platform... I love this developer. Amazing!
This currently has a bug which causes the console to output countless `Unchecked runtime.lastError: The message port closed before a response was received.` on mouse events. Also, why are injecting a listener to watch my mouse events?
Love it. But the browser keeps signing me out on both chrome and firefox. The desktop and phone parts seem to work fine though. Been using it 2 years or so now. Look at all that wonderful data.
It shows a fraction of the time I spend working on Googledocs. For instance, after I work for 1 hr, it will say I worked 15-20 min. This is a big problem since I work predominantly in Googledocs.
// , This has given me insights I would never have had, otherwise. Begone, Reddit, thou harlot of my attention!
PROBLEM SOLVED: If you are using a Chromebook, go into the settings and make sure that "I'm already using the full RescueTime application on this computer." is unchecked. If your extensions are auto installed from your desktop you might miss this important note. Your Chromebook will not track individual sites with this box check.
I like how detailed RescueTime's stats/graphs are and how sites get automatically categorized. The only problem is that it stops tracking time if you're inactive. So if I'm watching a video and not moving my mouse, it doesn't track the time. So it will say I only spent 5 minutes on youtube when in reality I spent several hours. I wish the way RescueTime decided if a tab was idle/inactive was customizable like it is with the timeStats extension. For example, timeStats lets me choose 60 seconds of inactivity before a tab is marked idle.
Both helps me congratulate myself for a day productively spent, and recognize where I could've managed my time better! Keeps me accountable for my distraction and pumped for keeping focus. "Where did my day go?" is never a question anymore, to my utmost relief! Essential for my time management experience. It's the first thing I download on any new electronics. Totally a lifeline for the internet! I can't recommend it highly enough <3 <3
Love it, great way to keep track of how long I'm at work since I'm a contractor.
Does not work correctly for google-chrome on Linux (SL7). It logs all time spent on different websites as reference time, and shows this time as productive. I also have the desktop app installed. This bug on Linux makes tracking productive time impossible and the app rather useless.
i love it
For some time, the free version of RescueTime disabled the graphs for website statistics. I uninstalled it. But now I tried it again and it seems to work, so I decide to give them my data once more.
I think that my companies "monitoring" software or possibly its "security" software is disabling this add-on. I believe it is because of Z-Scalar we use to monitoring internet browsing.
Excellent!
Been working with this for five years + now. At first I thought it would save my life, then I started to pay attention to how it told me how I squanders my time. It does not stop me spending 10 hours on Facebook but it does inform me. (Notice how it took me a long time to admit this!) What has worked great is using rescue time with very intentional time blocking.
Hi! I am using Rescuetime with Google chrome in Ubuntu, but it is not able to track my time unless I keep the extension open. Can you please help in fixing this bug
Very handy tool for helping me monitor my overall productivity. Love the fact that it can be installed on all my devices, automated weekly reports, etc.
Love it as a poductivity tool, only problem being that it rewards you for overwork. It could be a lot more then what it is with some engine tweaks to says what times different activities are productive. If you run it 24/7/365 which i do because i want to know what i've been doing, then watching a movie on a saturday night is productive! Working for 14 straight hours coding isn't, im bad at knowing how long i've been doing something for so this is a great tool, but it could be an amazing tool if it took having a life into account.
Does not work on Google Chrome with Linux: https://bugs.launchpad.net/rescuetime-linux-uploader/+bug/606956
The extension works. Would recommend. :)
it is helpful. I believe they will not steal my data. :)
Awesome for me, went from total distraction junkie to productive maniac!
Love this extension, wish the premium was a little less expensive. Can't quite justify $72 a year.
Been great to review and track time.
The RescueTime browser extension by itself earns a good rating, but used in combination with the mobile and desktop app RescueTime becomes an incredibly useful way to track your time throughout the day. 4 stars instead of 5 only because it's difficult sometimes to categorize activities how you want, and the reports, while great, are few in number. My recommendation would be to focus less on performance as a metric based on category. Perhaps allow goals to be applied to blocks of time, therefore rating productivity not based on the category of the task you're performing, but the consistency with which you are performing tasks within your goal frame.
Free version is not very useful as it updates every 30 minutes only. There are other apps that do it better...
Love the tracking, The extension however, chugs on updates. None of my extension installs show updates. The site seems to be fed accurate information however. Otherwise Awesome! Premium account holder!
Effective way to track the activity record which helps in getting motivation to be more effective.
Works as it should. No more, no less.
The Chrome extension works fine. However, I encountered "SegmentationFault" when I tried to start the desktop app from terminal. My OS: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. Data Collector version: 2.8.8.1040. Apparently, I can run it if I give sudo permission. Please check and if you need more details, let me know. Thank you.
it's a genuinely useful app, but the reports are generated slowly to the point that i'm wasting time waiting for reports to generate. oh the irony... also the extension needs an easy way to categorize websites that are uncategorized. this should be doable in at max of 2 clicks. seems like a rather huge oversight. seems like they improved the speed. +1 star
I've been using this extension for over a year now, and I also have the app on my phone. It's an excellent resource to document where my internet time goes, & it keeps me on task, when I can look to see how productive my days were, and during what times. I love RescueTime.
many tools to help me become more productive
Very easy to use. I set goals in terms of productivity and check weekly to see how i performed. Also, very easy to categorise websites.
you must to sign up to use it and it has too much options, the web site looks messy.I had to uninstall it after 20 minutes.
Doesn't do squat with Google Chrome 39.x
Absolutely fantastic! This logs time perfectly with rich reports and customization to show you exactly where your time has gone. Best of all it can even track time on applications OUTSIDE of Chrome if you prefer :)
This extension and program is great for pressuring me to work! I take it a bit as a challenge to not stay on distracting tabs, so I minimize the amount of time I spend on them. I feel less likely to get distracted when I feel I'm being monitored to work. I would suggest to the devs that they add a feature to change what time a day starts. I work pass midnight very often so I would prefer having my "day" begin at 6 AM or something like that.
very good and useful product. actually I think, as an inform-graphic designer, the interface and graphic could be improve a lot more. So this application will be more useful and super awesome. great job.:)
excellent
Great overall extension and utility, but I can only get the extension to function half of the time. The extension runs even when I close chrome and also has some compatibility issues with other extensions.
Seems to have lots of issues with other Extensions. Notably, doesn't work with HootSuite or AdBlock, which is really unfortunate. Otherwise, Rescue Time is really great. Five stars for sure if that is fixed. PS: I am a paying Premium RT member.
So useful, it has helped me turn my life around. Sometimes you need the data to slap you in the face before you take it seriously.
Love RescueTime. I'd like to see URL blocking from this extension though, since that's currently not possible on the (otherwise excellent) linux client.
Really wish you could categorize websites yourself if. It found so many sites to be neutral and my productive time was way less then it really was.
Since I'm already running the Windows app, it validated instantly and has been helpful in tracking web usage more precisely.
Works on all our Ubuntu 12 chromium and chrome systems. Nifty. (No other way to respond to the below).
