1. Can not login - says too much incorrect attempts, after 1 mistake in password, ridiculous. 2. Upon install / uninstall opens tabs with advertisement and other useless information.

Its just a garbage VPN. I spend more time trouble shooting it than actually using it.

since the new stupid update, the extension won't connect. it keeps showing network issue. i have opened three cases with the support and all closed with suggesting me to use the native app which i really hate .. if your STUPID extension doesn't work, and you are not smart enough to fix it, at least provide a way to tunnel selective traffic through your native app. can't wait until my subscription expires. im definitely moving back to NordVPN

Can't connect to any VPN server using Chrome extension.

Surfshark is not trustworthy. I had many issues with their service and their helpdesk was unable to resolve them. They are refusing to refund my purchase. I am within the "30 day guarantee" window. They are refusing because I previously tried their service, YEARS ago. Therefore I am not eligible for "another" refund according to their fine print. I signed up years ago to try, but ended up going with another VPN. I'm looking at switching VPNs again so I tried Surfshark again. Their website, even when I am logged in, clearly shows, "Get this plan & enjoy the best price with a 30-day money-back guarantee." without an asterisk or "see terms for details" or anything, it's completely unqualified. But their staff will gleefully point out that I agreed to their terms of service so they are not required to honor the guarantee they have plastered all over their site. A VPN so happy to abuse their user's trust is not a VPN I would trust with my internet traffic.

Doesn't work in China. Won't connect to any servers. I tried them all. Yes, we can install Android apps, but i wanted to use this extension. But it doesn't offer me the service I pay for. So, 1 star.

Why have the multi-hop servers been removed from the latest build (3.20) of the Chrome browser extension? There're still included in the Firefox extension, so why pull them from Chrome?

Terrible! I have the paid package, Antivirus, VPN... It has been months and they have not been able to resolve my issues. The whole time I have been unable to use the software at all. I contact customer service every week and I get told that they are working on it and will let me know when they figure out how to fix it. Never once have they offered to credit me for the time I have been unable to use the software I paid for. Just a revolving door of "We will contact you, Thank you for your understanding." When it worked I liked it very much.

This is definitely the worst vpn service I have ever tried. 1. The site is not accessible from many countries - you need another VPN to connect to this one - ridiculous. 2. Chrome extension doesn't work at all - "Proxy connection error" every time - i tried everything (other vpn service works btw) 3. Internet speed on the phone is the slowest the world has ever seen (Asian region) - 2G in my grandma's village will be faster

Do you know your costumers at all? The people who can't access free internet! It means your website is BLOCKED to them and they can't create an account on your website to use your VPN!!!

This extension does not work as described. Hardly connects and is easily identifiable by outside websites to be blocked. Do not use.

Great extention! Works very well, I really don't see why most of the ratings are bad, it works fast, amazing, very secure, and it's very cheap also. I even have a Surfshark One subscription and I love it, definetely one of the best VPNs out there.

it just doesn't work. at all. can't even login neither with code nor email. it only works on my android phone (sometimes). chrome extension is pretty much all the time down. and desktop app is unable to connect most of the time. worst experience ever with this vpn. can see where their no refund policy comes from. also amazing how they say you can reach them via livechat to cancel your subscription or resolve any issues, bruh they don't even have that chat thing anywhere

This used to work and now I just constantly get disconnected and and I am constantly annoyed with page that will suddenly open up by order of Surfshark upon disconnection that asks me to "reconnect to stay safe." Also, why was the interface changed and moved from its former simplicity? I've tried using the chat function to speak with a rep in order to attempt to resolve the issue, but of course the chat function on the site doesn't actually work--it's just for show apparently. And of course they already have my money and now I'll have to switch to another VPN provider and pay someone else for the services Surfshark promised to provide..

Please bring the "VPN" tab back to the first page, or at least add the option to choose which comes first. It became impossible to use, now you need to make a lot more clicks to change the country. In addition, there is a bug that if the current site is in the "bypass list" then there is no "Disconnect" button on the "Dashbord" tab!

The new dashboard feature makes using the extension significantly more annoying and increases the amount of steps required to connect

The chrome extension has become too much to navigate. Can't you guys make a basic chrome extension without all the tabs and other options showing up?

VPN service itself is fine, but randomly opening new tabs to advertise the product I've already bought is not.

I was dumb enough to pay for two or so years upfront. It's been a nightmare. Connection issues, blocked content everywhere, and now I find that the extension hijacks my browsing session for on-boarding nonsense. It hijacks my visits to Twitter and other sites to tell me that those sites have been hacked--since when is it okay to check which sites I visit, or to inject your garbage into my browsing session? Good thing I won't be renewing. I've now moved over to another provider with better support and faster speeds. This piece of trash will die and I'll be better off. Good riddance.

People saying they've been hacked, doesn't work, etc don't understand what a VPN is and how it works, which is ok everybody isn't a tech nerd. If you want to do dodgy stuff on the internet, don't use Surfshark, there are many ways you can be fingerprinted besides your IP address. If you want a solid reliable extra layer of security and/ or want to spoof your location, Surfshark is great and fast. Been using 3 years, no issues, highly recommend.

I prepaid for 3-yr service starting about 3 months ago. I have the premium service and everything turned on for protection. Yet, I was hacked and they were able to retrieve all my stored passwords. Also, hackers breached my email but the email monitor says "no breach" detected. Honestly, I'm not sure what to think of the product. Maybe it's better than having nothing, but nothing doesn't cost anything, and this did...

It works...if you have premium. No free VPNs here. For me, it works great! Have been a member since 2 years ago I think, so far I'm liking their connection speed and customer care.

Worst VPN extension in the world. It auto disconnect every time then request for subscription even when you are fully subscribed. All the Surfshark chrome extension developers need to fire urgently be fired.

I purchased surfshark for two years but its not working for 1 day. What the hell is this auto disconnect every time and says "Authentication Error". If you don't resolve this issue then shut your company and save time and money of peoples who buy this. World worst VPN ever.

It is impossible to remove this extension without contacting their customer service. DO NOT USE THIS EXTENSION! They want to keep charging your credit card.

Terrible extension. Doesn't work half of the time and when it does, there are so many problems like blocking normal non-dangerous sites such as Google or Facebook or disconnecting and not warning I'm browsing without protection. The Windows app works ok but they've been shutting down servers without reason.

PC and Android app are working fine except the Chrome extension is not working at all and always showing "Proxy connection error" !! I have zenmate and urban VPN chrome extensions and they are perfectly working fine.

Didn't work well for one second, had connection issues and pages like google.com were blocked. the support didn't have solutions that worked and wouldn't refund me. don't get it

For no apparent reason it randomly logs you out. and you have to go through your email and PW ad nauseum only to get logged out again next time around, and in the back of your mind you wonder if someone is running a keylogger exploit to get the rest of your information, Feeling safe using SurfShark now becomes a question that you really don't know the answer to.

First the bad - I wish it would be a little more obnoxious about reminding me I need to log back in and reconnect after it updates (or whatever happens when I get logged out - I'm assuming it's an extension update). Besides that, it works really well, good speed, and has very few issues with web sites.

It keeps logging me out and 2FA doesnt work on my phone so I end up using up all my recovery codes on a desktop to get back in ANNOYING

This app is not working at all and wasted more than 150 minutes of my Free Time, trying to make it working. I have used the Free Version of Hola VPN which has much lower rating, and never had any issues at all! Based on my experience I would say DON'T EVEN TRY TO WASTE YOUR TIME WITH Surfshark VPN!

It keeps me login me out very often lately and it is very annoying to do the log in procedure everytime. It used to be ok some time ago.

I can't get it to work. I only use it intermittently and it worked fine up through about a month or two ago. Now it is only throwing me one error after another (eg. 1015 error, then something with the network).. And, yes, I uninstalled and reinstalled. And off course, customer service is primarily a bot. Bye, bye to TurdShark and hello to a far higher rated service.

I'm new to SurfShark, but familiar with VPN's I've tried so many. Going through the VPN jungle here and I am very pleased with everything so far. I think I finally found the EVPN dragon slayer. Speed, Connection, CUSTOMER SERVICE (is outstanding) everything The First snag lol, The extension isn't working at all for some reason. I really liked Surfshark, the people on Support Live Chat were really helpful and sweet, and very quick.

This straight-up doesn't work. Netflix detects that you're using a VPN and stops showing you anything.

The Chrome extension worked great, I never had problems with it until recently. When I have the VPN active Chrome flags me as a robot whenever I search.

Surfshark works fine on all my devices apart from my laptop, the website won't load and the extension won't open. I've aloud all permissions but windows diagnostic comes back saying the website won't connect due to firewall and proxy issues, but also says it's aloud to bypass proxy and firewall and that nothing is wrong with my computer. so it must be Surfshark but I don't understand why? I can't even access customer support.

works perfectly fine except youtube where it often has connectivity problems causing it to go "offline" so I had to turn it off before I can even access the main page. hope this issue would be fixed soon. Was liking it all right until they decided to shut down their servers in one of the locations. No warning, no apology, and of course no refund. So if you're choosing a VPN go for another one, Surfshark simply can't be trusted.

Don't like it's start doing "Fake news" checks even when it's disabled, meaning they are analyzing browsing content in background. I pay for a service to have VPN and not malware/fake news checker.

First Surfshark disabled ShadowSocks support, effectively removing the only way to whitelist domains or to create a multi-endpoint setup. Now they spam their YYY symbols all over MY screen. Forgive me, but you are no political experts. My friends in Kharkiv, Dnepr and Kyiv tell a story completely different from western media. And I trust my friends much more than your YYY markings. You either mark EVERY mass media outlet that posts propaganda. INCLUDING western propaganda. Or you provide a link to the debunking of fake news under every YYY symbol. Or you give people their screen real estate back, and don't play journalists. This is the worst VPN experience I've ever had and I regret getting a 2 year subscription plan. Surfshark are so greedy, they doesn't even provide refunds. But this rant won't change a thing. They don't care about civil liberties or human lives, they only care about their public image... Hypocrisy and capitalism at it's finest.

I was fine with Surfshark until today - a "fake news" warning popped up as a result of an extension that was added without my permission! (And the warning wasn't even valid - it was on a legitimate well-proven site.) I use a VPN for privacy on the web. Period. It's not the VPN provider's place to advise me about the web sites I visit. Will be researching alternative VPNs, hopefully can find one that stays out of politics and censorship.

Fake news warning update is completely inappropriate for a VPN. You shouldn't be advising me on what websites I should or shouldn't visit. That's not your place. I'm shocked this was pushed on a paid-for VPN service. I am using a VPN to get away from censorship like this. Will be cancelling subscription and finding new provider.

I've been using this for a few months with pretty good results, but the past few weeks it started giving me connection errors and asking me to relogin, but it still worked. The past few days however it just doesn't work, if it lets me connect to a server nothing will load. If i try to change servers, most of them fail to connect, it's very frustrating.

Worked fine for about a year in a half but it still had a lot of problems when it was working its best. Summer 2021, the app stopped working completely. I've called customer service multiple time, cleared the cache, and done basically everything they've told me to do. Now, I can't login into Netflix anymore on my computer. I don't know why, but I can log in on other devices. I'm getting rid of my subscription it's not worth it anymore. I'll probably get another one, even if it costs a little more.

Works perfectly. This extension saves a lot of time, if I ever need to quickly change servers, and don't want to wait for the main app to load-up. Love the cookie blocker option. Hoping for more upgrades soon.

For the newest version 3.9.1, There is no option for a kill switch and no tutorial on how to open it and I've been getting notifications that my torrents are being tracked. Great job Surf Shark.

These guys are great. I admire their efficiency and their focus on a few, but key areas of security instead of trying to be the "whole package", with a useless bunch of additional features that will only be used out of novelty.. like a lot of these other companies have done. Surfshark is Slimline, has easy user interface, it's straight to the point and professional. Whatever Surfshark lacks in extra features in comparison to it's competitors; it makes up by having the developers focus entirely on what's REALLY important in terms of security online, and offline. I had a try for a month and only recently I just bought a 3 year sub. I'm honestly proud of these guys. Surfshark is 10/10 for me.

My reason for the 4 stars is that I don't like the huge window that SS now incorporates. In previous versions, they allowed you to shrink the window to half the size it is now. On a tiny Macbook Pro that window takes up a huge portion of my screen. Pertaining to the product, it's been nearly 2 years since I started using Surfshark and I will most definitely be extending my plan. I have had zero issues that SS has not fixed or addressed for me. And I have had very few issues in 2 years. Surfshark is the best I have used, and I have used so many different ones. ExpressVPN slowed my internet down to a crawl, nearly dial up speeds. I canceled them the same month I bought their overpriced VPN. I tried others, even the free ones, but they were limited and the speeds were just as slow. With Surfshark, I hardly even notice I am running a VPN. Until they fix the huge window issue, which is now on every device I own now, so I doubt they will be going back to normal anytime soon, I will give them that one more star, making this a 5 star VPN in my book. But until then, 4 stars is still a great score for a great VPN that works the way you expect a VPN to work. Don't listen to the negative reviews. Surfshark is there to help you and I think people are too lazy to contact them for support. Every time I contacted SS with an issue, I either found out it wasn't an issue at all, or they fixed it very simply on their end within minutes. Easily the best VPN out there.

It is supposed to bypass websites that I've added to the "bypasser' feature, but it doesn't. Way too much work for the little value it provides. It also stopped working with Netflix.

It's really annoying after the update in 2 months ago. It started disconnecting over and over. Forcing me restart the plugin. Make me looking for another alternative.

Like many other people have said, Shark VPN regularly logs you out and forgets your log in information. About once a week now, I am involuntarily logged out of my VPN. When I try logging in again, I am given the message that my log in info is incorrect (I know my info is correct). You are then forced to uninstall and reinstall the app, or change your password. It's a big hassle and not worth the frequent breaks in internet privacy. I will gladly pay a slightly higher price for another VPN so I don't have to deal with this issue.

i have been using it a few times now without problem but today I had to login and it made me login via a google chrome pop-up. before I could enter even two letters it closed and sometimes comes back but sometimes also not so to get the pop-up again you have to refresh the page. and when I finally type my account details which asks for a nickname and password not e-mail and password it either closed again or it was incorrect but I am pretty sure I did not type it wrong.

Worked OK for awhile, but now is SLOW. Like 1.1 MBPS slow. Coming from 50 down to 1.1 sucks. Doesn't matter what location I use, the extension is just slow now.

Keep logging me out for some reason

I just bought this yesterday 17th August 2021, and am using it right now. It keep asking me for to sign in and also keeps showing me a User Authentication Error. I have been emailing support, but not been given any lead time of when I should expect the response. If getting the 2 year package was the reason of poor quality than I don't mind paying for one year, at least I get a stable VPN on my browsers. Surf Shark Team please respond ASAP.

Is there an alternative way to log into the chrome browser extension? I assume the domain is already blocked that is why the extension always fail on login.

Truthfully not sure it even works. It will not unblock the simple site USTVgo the way my free proton VPN does. Paid for a year in advance. Very disappointed.

At last, the Bypasser makes its way to the Surfshark chrome extension. I have to say this was the major reason for buying a Surfshark subscription and I was disappointed to find out that this feature was initially only available in the desktop app, where the implementation was very underwhelming for web browsing (due to the way it worked by resolving all domain names and caching the IPs making it useless on websites like youtube where the IP keeps changing making the whitelist miss randomly). But I held out hope and patiently waited. This is huge. With proper support for Bypasser in a browser extension true request filtering can be achieved, and everything works as expected -- it works even better than "PIA" thanks to automatic subdomain and protocol handling on top of wildcard support. The only downside is that there is currently a limit of 100 entries. Hopefully that can be expanded in the future. (Removing the requirement to reconnect on Bypasser changes could also be great, though it's rather negligible) Other than that, everything works beautifully as expected of a VPN extension. Keep up the great work! I am glad to have stayed with Surfshark.

I did try many times with my nb but failed. It stuck at 10% then stopped. However, it works well with my cell phones.

Thank you for this extension but I do get the proxy login error from time to time. It'd also be great if we had a kill switch similar to mobile app as sometimes surfshark fails to connect on browser startup and I end up directly connecting to internet.

It does exactly what I want it to do. The only time I had an issue, I used the live chat and was very pleased with the help I received. I had been putting off getting a VPN for ages and I'm really glad I went ahead and got Surfshark.

Edit: There was an update on the 9th of June, which seems to have solved the issue. It was working great for a while, now it logs me out after most sessions and block me from accessing sites in the browser. (edit: nothing has been done, I have to reinstall the extension every 3 days, otherwise it doesn't work and blocks me from accessing the internet). This is a paid product. Is no one developing this?

It's very good, it has many VPN servers for great value! However sometimes, I want to go to VPN servers like North Korea or China, or Cuba or Iran, or even Syria, but they aren't there! I still loved Surfshark and I would recommend it. 10/10

I've been using it for two months and it's disastrous. I can't connect at the best of times and can't login. Will definitely cancel the subscription. It literally worked the first five days and it auto renewed (should have cancelled before the renewal). Massively disappointed.

Logs me out every time on chrome for some reason. I have actually been having numerous different problems across all the different apps for the last few months.

the extension seems to be blocked in saudi arabia because i have to turn on VPN on my desktop in order to login to the chrome extension. and then if i disconnected my dekstop VPN the extension says: Network error. Please check your internet connection and try again. Context: Optimal server Message: network please fix this issue. the extension connection is blocked in my country.

One of the best VPNs out there. Due to the unique storing strategy it makes it extremely cheap yet secure. For the average Productivity and privacy fan, this is perfect and power packed with additional add on features.

While the service is great, the extension itself needs work. If I restart my computer or close chrome, my browser will give me a proxy error and will not load anything. I have to remove the extension and then re-add it for it to work again. It is really annoying.

Does not work with Chrome. Have tried in over 10 devices, reinstalled, etc. no luck. It works well in Android devices, but for some reason can't make it work at ALL in Chorme. NordVPN works fine in the same devices, weird...

I do not understand the bad reviews for Surfshark. Maybe they fixed a lot of stuff b4 I started using it? I have had no issues with this VPN. I use it on Android, Linux(NetworkManager&OpenVPN), Windows, and in the browser from time to time. But anyway, I just wanted to say it works just like it should for me.

Works great 90% of the time, but then keep getting an error message saying that SurfShark has forgotten my login details, even when correctly entered, still refuses to login and then - bizarrely - stops me from accessing the internet. Had to uninstall the extension just to get online again, but have since reinstalled and works. This has happened three or four times in the space of a year and it seems like other people are having the same issue, so it'd be great to see SurfShark do something about this, given that they provide an otherwise brilliant service.
