Im not thrilled that my parents added this to my computer. I have a few issues with the app that i will go into detail: 1. the code isnt open source, I have many issues downloading chrome extensions or anything that goes on my laptop that can track all my data if the code isnt open source. Im a tad bit worried that this could be very easily hacked and all my personal info like age, gender, bank account details, etc would get used in a malicious way. 2. it blocks the most random content. This extension blocks almost all news sites that i regularly visit to get my news. i primarily follow space news and almost all of the content related to rockets and whatnot is completely blocked. Really sucks for me as i happen to run one of those news sites... 3. it shows the child that their parents dont trust them. In a relationship between a child and a parent there has to be a mutual trust for the relationship to he remotely healthy, this shows the complete opposite of that. i feel like i cant trust my parents anymore now that its evident that they dont trust me. 4. Similar to number 3 it can be very damaging to the childs relationships with their friends. I now feel like my parents are watching over my shoulder while im talking to my friends about personal things that are none of my parents business. The whole point of having friends is to have someone that you can talk to that isnt your parents. For instance if my friend is going through a rough time thats none of my parents business, they have absolutely 0 right to know whats going on in my friends personal life. 5. Similar to almost every single statement abpve its a clear invasion of privacy, every child (especially someone 15 or older) should have a right to their own privacy. Parents dont need to know every single thing their child is doing on the internet, I get that it protects the child from looking at pornography, however when it allows the parent to see every single thing that their child is doing on the internet thats not ok. 6. BitDefender is so much better. The program doesnt keep track of everything that the child does on the internet. The child can have conversations with their friends without having to worry about their parents seeing what they are talking about (within reason). Ive also found that with BitDefender i can actually visit news sites without them being flagged or blocked for inappropriate content.

I'm pretty sure this is as much of an invasion of privacy as it claims to be protecting you from.

Downloading this extension is an awful decision. As others have said this app invades one's privacy. Yes, I understand that the guardian has "all power over the child's life" however, the parent invades the child's relationships, and main source of entertainment. Not to mention, this severely damages the child's relationship with said parental guardian. It means the guardian not only mistrusts the child, but has no respect either. Yes, the guardians sole duty is to protect the child at all costs, but while they protect them from predators on the internet can they protect them from themselves? With the Bark extension the child has no control over their own privacy. By using this feature you severely damage your trust, and relationship in general with your child. It can only protect your child to an extent as well. There will always be other sources. All your doing is trapping your child, and taking away all sense of control in their lives.

This app tears down all privacy and is just stupid. The point of a parent-child bond is to have a mutual respect and by taking away all the childs privacy is just disrespectful. It shows you dont trust them. Things like this tear down relationships and cause more future problems and for the child to not be able to rely on said parents. I hope you're happy.
